Description
For your consideration, decorative wall hanging is a piece of Mid-Century Modern folk art, typically handcrafted in Chile using hammered brass (and sometimes copper) accented with inlaid blue lapis lazuli stones.
These pieces are frequently attributed to Chilean artists, most notably Christian Luis Gomez or Jesus Moreno (often signed “J. Moreno”). You can check the back of the piece for a stamped “Chile” or a signature to confirm the maker.
The wall hanging features three connected sections with stylized bird (often an owl or peacock) and geometric motifs.
It is made from hammered brass or a mix of metals like copper and brass, with genuine lapis lazuli, a semi-precious stone heavily mined in Chile.
