For your consideration, an antique Japanese foldable paper candle lantern, often referred to as a chochin or odawara lantern, featuring a copper or brass top and base.
These lanterns were designed to be portable and could collapse into their metal bases for easy carrying.
They are typically constructed with washi paper glued over a bamboo frame, supported by metal caps.Age and Use: Many surviving examples date from the Edo to Meiji periods (roughly 1800s) and were used similarly to modern flashlights.
