Description
For your consideration, an abstract mid-century modern candle holder. Its organic, flame-like design is characteristic of vintage brassware from the 1950s and 60s, often attributed to the “Schiaparelli style” for its surrealist aesthetic.
The design features two upward-curving arms with a central cup for a taper candle. While your piece shows a beautiful aged patina, similar items are often found in polished brass or even cast aluminum with a brass finish.
Modernist designers like Ben Seibel and sculptors like Denis Mitchell produced similar organic, teardrop-shaped brass and bronze objects during this era. It is designed to hold a single standard taper candle, though its sculptural form allows it to stand alone as a decorative art piece. Unmarked. Ghost stamp preset underneath.
