Description

For your consideration, an antique art deco copper fireplace screen, which was historically placed in front of a hearth when a fire was not burning to shield the room and serve as a decorative accent piece.
It features strong Art Deco design cues, most notably the stylized, geometric fountain or skyscraper motif embossed in the center and the angular, geometric handle at the top.
The panel is crafted from hand-polished or patinated copper sheet metal, paired with matching metal splayed feet that allow it to stand independently on a flat surface.
These screens were popular throughout the early-to-mid 20th century to elevate home interior aesthetics and mask empty, dark fireplaces during warmer seasons.
Unmarked, no information on the maker. USA circa the 1930s.
