Description
For your consideration, an antique “pancake” style lever padlock, likely an Edwards 6-Lever padlock or a similar model made by Slaymaker or Eagle Lock Co. These flat, round locks were very popular in the early 1900s and were often used for industrial purposes, barns, or securing spare tires on early automobiles.
The lock gets its name from its flat, round shape that resembles a pancake.
It uses internal levers (usually six) that must be raised to the exact correct height by the key to open the mechanism.
Wrought Iron or Steel Body.The heavy, dark metal body has a rustic patina from decades of aging.
BThe key slides over a small central post inside the keyhole to operate the internal levers.
