Description
For your consideration, a vintage Los Castillo Taxco piece. A notable workshop from Mexico known for its innovative use of mixed metals and natural materials. This specific design, often referred to as a “bib” or “fringe” necklace, is characterized by its staggered rectangular pendants made of wood (frequently ebony or rosewood) and silver.
The Los Castillo workshop was founded in 1939 by Antonio Castillo and his brothers, all of whom trained in William Spratling’s workshop. This particular style of fringe necklace was produced around the mid-20th century (circa 1940s-1960s).
Constructed from 925 sterling silver or silver plate, paired with ebony or rosewood rectangular rods.
The rods are often capped with silver and separated by small silver beads or round balls to provide flexibility and a draping effect around the neck.
Dimensions: 16″ W x 1.5″ H x .25″ D
